Effective September 2, 2014, every title insurance policy issued in Florida by any agent or office has an added surcharge of $3.28 that must be separately charged and remitted in full to the insurance underwriter. The Surcharge should be shown on a blank line in the 1100 block of the HUD-1. The underwriter on whom the policy is written should be designated as the payee.
This should not create a huge amount of panic, as the amount is minimal. However, everyone should be prepared to see this new charge.
